8.GLASGOW PROVINCE, GREATER GLASGOW AREA
The Glasgow Province was set up in 1872 and is one of the 38 Provinces in Scotland in 13 Areas which make up the Scottish curling population.
The Province runs a number of competitions each year. Pollok Curling Club enters a team for the Arthur Frame Trophy, the winners of which go on to represent the Province in the National Province Championship each year. It runs throughout the season, initially in a sectional format with the top two teams going forward to the knockout semi-finals and thr Final. The Final traditionally takes place on the evening of the Province Annual General Meeting with the game being played and the Champions decided as a precursor to the business of the AGM. Peeled games are allowed in the league stages. However in the semi-finals and Final , in the event of the game ending ‘peeled’, a Draw Shot Challenge takes place between any two nominated players with the winner being declared as the player as the stone nearest the ‘Button’. In the Draw Shot Challenge teams may sweep only their own stone. In the event that there is insufficient time left for a Draw Shot Challenge, the Rules stipulate that the winners shall be determined by the toss of a coin.

16 September 1953: "The Club was represented in the Competitions run by R.C.C.C. and Glasgow Province and although not winning, made a very good show"
14th April 1959: At the Club AGM the President was delighted that the Club had won the Glasgow Province Stainton Crosthwaite Friendship Trophy, the winning rink being E Sprenger, T Paterson, W Gilchrist and J Pickwell (Skip).

This is the third time in four years that a Pollok Rink has won this Trophy, which is used for charitable purposes. It should be produced at all Club meetings and Members invited, or if necessary, forced to contribute!
18th April 1986: AGM – “…in the Arthur Frame we were knocked out at the Group stage on a technicality when the skip failed to note on the scorecard that one of the players was a sub.”
11th April 2017: AGM - Match Secretary’s Report – In the Glasgow Province v Dunbartonshire Province match, the Pollok rink beat Cadder in a close match. However Dunbartonshire won overall by 66 shots to 57.
